English Bill of Rights DBQ (In Class Only)

Read the following from the English Bill of Rights.  Answer the questions that follow.

The English Bill of Rights is a result of the ongoing struggle for governmental control between the British Crown and the British Parliament.

That levying taxes for the Crown by divine right, without grant of Parliament, is illegal.

That it is the right of the subjects to petition the king, and all punishments and imprisonments for such petitioning are illegal;

That election of members of Parliament ought to be free to citizens;

And that for the amending, strengthening and preserving of the laws, Parliaments ought to meet frequently
