Instructions

The first thing you need to do today is check your heart rate to see how many times your heart is beating in a minute.

Here's how:

  • Place your index and middle finger on one side of your neck right under the jaw bone.
  • Press in very slowly until you feel a pulse beat.
  • Once you feel the pulse, count how many times you feel it in one minute
  • You can also count how many times you feel it in 15 seconds and then multiply that by 4 to calculate how many times it is beating in one minute.

Now that you have checked your heart rate before activity, do something active for 10 minutes.  You can do a combination of multiple things during the 10 minutes if you'd like, rather than doing the same thing the entire time.  The key is to keep moving for 10 minutes to get your heart rate elevated.  Here is a list of some options:

Jog in Place   -   Sit Ups   -   Push Ups   -   Plank   -   Leg Lifts   -   Go for a brisk walk or jog   -   Burpees   -  Jumping Jacks   -   Climb Stairs   -   Jog Stairs   -   Jump Squats   -   Lunge   -   High Knees

You get the idea, just MOVE for 10 minutes and get your heart pumping.

When you finish, re-check your heart rate.  It should be much faster than it was before you exercised.
